![]() ![]() WG isn't balancing carriers around the average player, but it's those players that make them think they already are balanced. This isn't even what my argument was originally about anyway. Their ability is mostly at fault when encountering such things, and it's exactly why you don't 'balance' over lacking ability to do something that is very possible. Radar bad, BB dev strike bad, concealment bad, torps bad yada yada. You could go on and on about all the things average players think are bad, and each one would be evidence on it's own as to why you would never make balancing decisions around them. For the enjoyment of the masses, balancing to their ability makes more sense. Yes I agree if we were solely balancing for competitive play however I'd bet the vast majority of player base is casual and of the average ability. Turning air strikes into their own little arcade sub game, complete with calling reinforcements out of the aether, is not an expansion and variety in the game mode, it's a game play that inherently ignores the important mechanics that already exist.Your superiority complex is showing a bit here. Thus, the proper gameplay for a carrier in this game SHOULD be more RTS styled like before. Not to teleport from your bridge into the cockpit and pretend you're the fighter jock. With aircraft, your advantage is in the ability to re-route them and utilize them in more meaningful ways. Once deployed/fired, it is up to them to do their thing. ![]() Your fighter wing is an independent extention of your command in the same way your shells are an extension of your order to fire. You aren't the leader of your fighter wing. ![]() However, the focus of the game is to make you the captain of your ship and its resources. Yes, a Carrier IS a warship, and it is the warship that would go on to kill the battleship the same way video killed the radio star (airplanes came and torp'd my heart!). Problem is that it inherently ignores the core focus of the gameplay and thus, does not BELONG in the same game matchup as the rest of the game's mechanics. I've no doubt in my mind that the fighter squadron gameplay that the CV update introduced is very fun to do in its own right. Anything can be fun in terms of gameplay. ![]()
